Spring Showers

Written by Khalia Solomon of Northwest high school

Chirps of birdies ringing through the misty morning air,

fresh and sweet

cool and refreshing

dew,

left from the gall storms of the previous nights.

As the soft snores and the gracious hum of tires

gliding on the wet pavement

rang throughout the night,

the whispers of nature were

hush, hush, hushed,

as their quenching thirst was fulfilled.

The dull blue sky reflected in the palm-sized puddles

adorned the sidewalk,

along with its cracks filled

with dirt pushing through,

peach and fuchsia colored flowers,

adding color.

Tree roots of all twists and shades of brown

glistened

as the sun peeked through the fluffy white clouds,

illuminating the dirty shades

and bringing life to green stems of grass

that the yellow and black bees moved throughout.

Spring, Spring, Spring

sweet, sweet honeysuckle,

wafting through the air letting it be known that spring is here.
