With each book, we will tell you the genre, summary, our opinions of the story and why it is perfect for your age group! However, please do not feel discouraged by the categorization of books because these are personal recommendations, not professional ones.
Feel free to read from whichever category you are most comfortable in!
PRESCHOOL
In preschool, children are learning the alphabet and the fundamentals necessary to guide them towards reading at a beginner level. Our team has assembled a collection of picture books to help get these young toddlers started!
K - 2nd GRADE
At these ages, children are first starting to learn how to read and begin their transition from picture to chapter books! As such, our recommendations for this age group include classic picture books as well as beginner chapter books.
3rd - 5th grade
In the later years of elementary school, children start to become more accustomed to longer books that rely more on imagination rather than pictures. As such, our team has organized simple novels and chapter books that we grew up with for this age group.
6th - 8th grade
At these ages, pre-teens are becoming more accustomed to reading challenging texts. Keeping in mind that the reading level of each individual varies, our team has assembled a collection of book series and novels that are sure to challenge 6th to 8th graders to improve their skills with the most enjoyable stories we can offer!
Young adult
This section is specifically for high school students and young adults! Even as young adults, reading levels vary. However, MOCO FOR LITERACY has done their best to recommend books that we not only love, but are sure you will love too!
Adult
Adult books can range from horror all the way to Shakespeare. We have organized an assortment of novels that include more mature and formal content. If you are a young adult who is looking for a different taste of literature, this section could be for you!
