Snowy Snowy Time

Written by Khalia Solomon of Northwest High School

Hearing the bells ring and shake in the background,

Christmas jingles playing softly on the static-filled tv.

Warm honey brown eyes close to the pitter-patter of snow falling on the window.

Soft luminescent snowflakes dancing in the frigid fields of itself,

Blush colored fingertips gliding along the wet icicles stuck in the snowdrifts,

A bright pink nose accented with dots of white falling from the heavens.

Skids of metal slicing the ice,

Kids filled with laughter,

Warm fogs of breath shared between lovers

As the snow falls from the dark space above.

Coffee shops filled with the scents of peppermints and warm chocolates,

biscuits and cheddar soups, cakes and creams.

Winter has always been a delight,

Such an image that’s filled with whites,

Frigid air that catches your eyes,

Blinding your sight,

Numbing your skin

Leaving you in wonder.
