Glacial

Written by Khalia Solomon of Northwest Highschool

The thunderous arrays of dark blues in the wintry sky,

Malformed trees enhanced with thin sheets of ice,

Reflecting the dolefulness of inside in its sharp and frigid icicles.

Nothing has changed, nothing will change,

My heart is cold and alone, in a frigid place

That wears his name, the place where I’m left bitterly,

With only cold and misery, misery and sorrow

Brought by one who isn’t here—

One who left the air bleak with stenches of liasion.

A great affliction leaving me shattered abysmally.

The aches of adultery are left within the cracks of these walls,

Left in the creaks of the floorboards and in the shadows of the sink water.

A fabulist with uncompassionate behavior

Painted over the cracks of the wall.

Blues adorned with blacks and reds

To represent the lustful lies.

Thin strokes and uncovered spots

Signify the imperfections of what we once were.
